Automation Engineer II, Navigation SDK Company: Mapbox Overview Mapbox is the leading real‑time location platform for a new generation of location‑aware businesses. What We Do The Navigation SDK team develops and improves core navigation components and APIs—routing, guidance, voice controls—serving users such as BMW, Toyota, Rivian, and Instacart. Our goal is to get users from point A to point B accurately and efficiently. What You'll Do We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer with expertise in Python and Linux to support our development teams in maintaining and enhancing our SDK release systems and best practices. In this role you will manage the release systems and tools for creating, testing, and deploying Mapbox SDKs, work with engineering teams to build, package, and distribute Android, iOS products, and support automotive hardware development, and debug platform‑specific build issues. Your Responsibilities Will Include Integration and optimisation of build systems Development and maintenance of continuous integration and deployment pipelines Maintenance of automotive integration test systems Defining and advocating for engineering best practices Keeping up to date with technological developments and industry trends Key Qualifications Experience with mobile build systems (Gradle, Xcodebuild, etc.) Prior experience building and releasing for mobile (Android or iOS) Prior experience writing and maintaining reusable CI/CD pipelines Experience in creating and monitoring self‑hosted CI/CD infrastructure Good at investigating and troubleshooting other people's code/apps Strong communication and collaboration skills Passion for automating and improving processes Good documentation and technical writing skills Nice to Have Traits Experience in the mapping, navigation, or automotive industry Background building and releasing software for embedded systems Experience with effective tooling and monorepos Experience developing Python‑based tools for product quality and developer experience Experience with CMake build system Hands‑on C++ development experience What We Value High‑performing creative individuals who dive into problems and opportunities Employees who bring their whole selves to work, supported by healthcare, parental leave, flexibility, and a culture of learning A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, encouraging people of all backgrounds to apply By applying for this position, you acknowledge that you agree to the Mapbox Privacy Policy.
